"dear
emily: just a quick note to tell you how much eric and i appreciate all
you did to help us make our wedding THE wedding we've always hoped for.
our friends have not stopped raving about the ceremony -- how it was so
personal, so unlike anything anyone had been to before. we are so proud
to have worked hard and accomplished what we set out to accomplish WITH
YOUR HELP!!! we are forever grateful.
" emily! We are so glad we found you and that you helped us create a magical and memorable day. The ceremony was really beautiful and we loved the ring warming and the 'firepit' you brought. We were blessed with blue skies and beautiful colors, but it was the words you spoke that brought down the house. A million thanks. Brenda & Chris"

Emily King is a civil celebrant and ordained minister who is legally empowered to act as the officiant at your ceremony in New York State and New York City, as well as neighboring states. She is the founder of the Sacred Word Healing Circle, which meets monthly in midtown Manhattan. In addition to her theatrical career in the US and Britain, Emily worked for many years as a writer and editor in the recording industry, and as a non-profit administrator. She is a published translator of French, German, and Italian texts, and has studied American Sign Language, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. She lives in Manhattan with her family, and spends every other weekend upstate, digging in her mother's garden. You can contact her by phone or e-mail her directly at king@nycelebrant.com |
"Several paths brought me to celebrancy. The first was my love of ritual and the spoken word. I was trained in both for many years in the theater as an actress, singer, playwright and director. Another was a growing desire to find a way to be more useful to my community and the world around us. Raised as a Roman Catholic and often a choir member in many denominations, I know the power of ritual and the belief stirred by the beauty of place, music, history and poetry. That energy can heal the individual and create a community out of neighboring strangers. "Celebrancy offers a way to create a synthesis of beauty and power from many sources. Creating your unique ceremony -- by telling your stories, by calling on the riches of your cultures, by bringing together your family and friends in support of your union -- is the challenge and the delight of the celebrant's job."
